Lake Forest, CA – July 27, 2018 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and physical and digital collectibles, today announced that it will showcase current and upcoming games at Gen Con, August 2-5 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
At Booth #601, Cryptozoic will demo and sell limited pre-release quantities of several of its highly anticipated upcoming games, including Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game, Pantone™: The Game, DC Spyfall, DC Deck-Building Game: Crisis Expansion Pack 4, and Epic Spell WarsTM of the Battle Wizards: Panic at the Pleasure Palace. In addition, it will sell Million Dollars, But… The Game before its release in partnership with Rooster Teeth on August 8. The company will feature many of its recent releases as well, such as Rick and Morty: The Ricks Must Be Crazy Multiverse Game and Wallet. Finally, it will conduct several tournaments and preview releases for later this year, like Cult: Choose Your God Wisely.
“Gen Con is the largest tabletop gaming event in North America, so we are excited to show everyone our incredible lineup of 2018 releases,” commented Adam Sblendorio, Vice President of Creative at Cryptozoic. “Fans who come by our booth will be able to buy games like Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game, Pantone: The Game, and DC Spyfall before they hit stores. We’ll have plenty of demos and some previews of upcoming games too. We’re set for a huge second half of the year, and it all starts in Indianapolis!”
Cryptozoic will demo and offer limited quantities of several games for purchase before they are released:
Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game: This intense 1-2 player game is based on the hugely popular “Pickle Rick” episode of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty. One player plays as Pickle Rick as he tries to escape a heavily armed compound, while the other player takes on the roles of both the Russians and Jaguar as they try to stop him. Adding to the off-the-wall fun is the custom, collectible Pickle Rick game case that measures approximately 12.75 inches tall and holds all of the game’s components, including custom Pickle Rick and Jaguar playing pieces! Fans who cannot make it to Gen Con still have a chance to buy the game via Direct Sale from Cryptozoic before the September release, while supplies last.
PantoneTM: The Game: In this easy-to-learn competitive party game, 2-20 players try to recognize characters from pop culture who are represented only by abstract arrangements of colors, inspired by Pantone™, the world’s leading color expert. The game was designed by Scott Rogers (Rayguns and Rocketships, the God of War video game series), who will demo it at the Cryptozoic booth. It was named as one of “The Top 20 Most Anticipated 2018 Gen Con Releases” on Chit Chat, the highly influential show on the Man Vs. Meeple YouTube channel.
DC Deck-Building Game: Crisis Expansion Pack 4: This expansion can be added to any game in the popular DC Deck-Building Game series to introduce cooperative play, Personal Crises, and Unity cards that can combine for powerful effects. Optimized to work with DC Deck-Building Game: Teen Titans, the pack features Crisis versions of eight Teen Titans Super Heroes and comes with six Super Hero cards based on the Titans, original members of the team who are all grown up.
DC Spyfall: In this new variation on the social deduction game Spyfall, 3-8 players take on the roles of DC’s greatest Super Heroes as they have a secret meeting at an iconic Location, such as the Batcave, Daily Planet, or the Fortress of Solitude. The twist is that one of them is secretly the Joker in disguise! It was named as one of the “Top Anticipated Games - Gen Con 2018” by The Dice Tower, the highly regarded YouTube channel and audio podcast about board games.
At Gen Con, fans who purchase the game will receive a promo The Swamp Location deck. In addition, anyone who spends $15 at Cryptozoic’s booth will get a free Comic Book Convention Location deck.
Epic Spell WarsTM of the Battle Wizards: Panic at the Pleasure Palace: The fourth game in the Epic Spell WarsTM series takes the trademark humor-filled, mature gameplay and artwork to a new level for 2-6 players. Magically Transmitted Diseases (MTDs) are a powerful addition to the proceedings, leading Wizards to suffer Crotch Krakens, Genital Harpies, and Gorgonorrhea, among other enchanted afflictions. The game looks to continue the growth of the series, which has gained a legion of fans since the first game was featured in an episode of the hit web series TableTop.
Million Dollars, But... The Game: Based on Rooster Teeth’s wildly popular web series Million Dollars But…, this addictive, easy-to-learn party game has players put their morals and imagination to the test, posing the question, “What would you do for a million dollars?” The 2-6 players take turns proposing scenarios in which someone gets a million dollars, but must do something distasteful in exchange. The partnership between Cryptozoic and Rooster Teeth will make the game available at hobby stores and other retailers nationwide starting August 8.
Cryptozoic will also preview upcoming titles, including:
Cult: Choose Your God Wisely: This 2-5 player board game is a worker/Priest placement game with a unique take on currency. Players choose Gods (each with special abilities) and send their Priests to places in the Eternal City in an attempt to bring their deity victory over the minds and souls of humanity. Followers will be sacrificed and Altars will be built as the different Gods clash in this exciting new take on the genre. The game can be played now on Tabletopia, a virtual platform for board games co-founded by Igrology, before arriving at retailers later this year.
Finally, Cryptozoic will show and sell some of its recently released tabletop games, such as:
Rick and Morty: The Ricks Must Be Crazy Multiverse Game: In this engine-building game based on the unforgettable episode of Rick and Morty, 2-4 players take on the roles of Rick, Morty, Zeep, and Kyle as they introduce Power-making technology to different worlds, and then try to get that Power before their opponents.
Wallet: In this exciting party game, 2-7 players become colorful characters and compete to find money and an ID that will convince the cops of their innocence. Holding multiple IDs and several types of currency will result in the player getting locked up for sure. The game is played using an actual wallet with multiple pockets and zippered areas that allow players to bluff their opponents or lead them into traps. Each fast-paced game last only 10 minutes, and an entire match is over in just 30 minutes.
The Arrival: Created by famed designer Martin Wallace, the strategy board game puts 2-4 players in the roles of Tribe Leaders as they vie with each other and the demon-like Fomori for control of ancient Ireland. The unique gameplay includes two different victory conditions as determined by whether the Tribe Leaders or the Fomori control more of the map at the end of play. Cryptozoic’s wide release of the acclaimed game, previously released in limited quantities at the Essen Game Fair in 2016, upgrades the art, improves various components, and adds a new Advanced Game variant.
