DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals — Green Lantern vs. Sinestro
Second Rivals Card Game Features One-on-One Gameplay as Players Become the Iconic DC Super Hero and DC Super-Villain and Engage in Confrontations
Lake Forest, CA – October 23, 2018 – Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and physical and digital collectibles, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, today announced the October 31 release of DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals — Green Lantern vs. Sinestro. In this deck-building game that utilizes Cryptozoic’s popular Cerberus Engine, two players become iconic DC rivals Green Lantern and Sinestro and engage in direct Confrontations. As the game progresses, players buy more powerful cards and attack and defend until their opponent’s three oversized Character cards are defeated.
"This game simulates one of the greatest rivalries in the DC Universe with head-to-head Confrontations,” said Nathaniel Yamaguchi, the game’s designer. “Sinestro forces his foes to cower in fear from his onslaught of attacks. Green Lantern builds up his defenses until he has the willpower to strike back. The victor will need to be more effective at building up their Lantern Corps and slinging Constructs."
In the game, a player can either take a Normal Turn, buying cards to build up his or her deck, or a Confrontation Turn, challenging his or her opponent directly. During a Confrontation, a player must have Power equal or exceeding his or her opponent’s current oversized Character to defeat it. Green Lantern and Sinestro each have three unique Character cards, each with more formidable abilities and a higher cost than the previous one.
The winner is the player who defeats his or her opponent’s final Character card first or, if they are unable to refill the Line-Up at any point, the player who has the most Victory Points.
The game is fully compatible with the other games in the Confrontations line: DC Deck-Building Game: Confrontations and DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals — Batman vs. The Joker. It can also be combined with other Cerberus Engine deck-building games to create a custom game experience.
DC Deck-Building Game: Rivals — Green Lantern vs. Sinestro will be available at retailers nationwide starting October 31 for a suggested retail price of $20.
To coincide with the game’s release, Cryptozoic will also make available DC Deck-Building Game: 2018 Organized Play Kit 2, which includes instructions for stores to run tournaments for this and other games in the DC Deck-Building Game series. It includes a limited-edition Playmat, 12 Gypsy Hero Promo Cards, and a Gypsy poster. Retailers can order it from their distributors.
