Cryptozoic Entertainment™ Secures Licensing Rights From AMC To Create The Walking Dead™ Board Game

New York, NY/Irvine, CA 2011—May 23, 2011:Cryptozoic Entertainment, famous for its World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game, announced today that the company has secured the licensing rights from AMC to create “The Walking Dead Board Game.”  The deal marks Cryptozoic’s foray into the board game category. “The Walking Dead Board Game” is going to be available early fall.

Do you have what it takes to fight off killer zombies?  Will you leave your friends behind and save yourself?  Or will you try to save the remnants of the human race from a world that has gone completely mad?  “The Walking Dead Board Game” gives players the opportunity to take on the role of their favorite characters from the show, battling walkers in a struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world.  Fear mounts as time and resources run out and players face the possibility of becoming plagued with the infectious disease and turning against their own kind!  You are kept on the edge of your seat as you try to escape your doom.  Don't miss your chance to crack the skulls of flesh-eating zombies and defend the world from the forces working towards its demise!

AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics.  The series tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse.  It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.  The comic goes on to explore the challenges of life in a world overrun by zombies who take a toll on the survivors, and sometimes the interpersonal conflicts present a greater danger to their continuing survival than the zombies that roam the country.  Over time, the characters are changed by the constant exposure to death and some grow willing to do anything to survive.  AMC’s “The Walking Dead” reigns as the most watched drama series in basic cable history for the Adults 18-49 demo.  AMC’s season one premiere of “The Walking Dead” was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama.
