Cryptozoic Launches World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game Class Starter Decks

Irvine, CA. June 30, 2010 - Cryptozoic Entertainment was created with a mission statement of “players first.” To deliver on that mission statement, Cryptozoic is supporting what it sees as the hub for each community: the local hobby store. It has already launched the Champions of the Black Flame volunteer program, assisting stores in setting up events and support for the World of Warcraft® Trading Card Game, which is based on Blizzard Entertainment's popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game. In July, this support will continue with the launch of Class Starter Decks, which will be available exclusively from hobby retailers in North America and Europe for a suggested price of $10.99 USD / 10.99€ EUR.

“Games, especially the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, are defined by their individual player communities. While the game brings people together, ultimately it is the players and their local stores who bring the game to life,” explained Cory Jones, chief creative officer of Cryptozoic.  “We’re proud to release a product that is exclusively available at the stores that give our players a place to call home.”

The Class Starters include a selection of cards from recent and older sets. These cards help form the brand-new Core format: a compacted, new-player-friendly format that prioritizes game time and minimizes down time. Each deck can be played directly out of the box, providing quick entry into the game for new players.

There are 18 decks in all, each one catering to a specific class and faction, and the packaging informs the customer exactly which combination he is purchasing. Players familiar with the online version of World of Warcraft®, but new to the Trading Card Game, will be able to select a deck that echoes their online character. Players also have a chance to crack the best Loot cards from across the first three years of the game—including the Spectral Tiger!

By supporting hobby retailers and increasing the accessibility of the Trading Card Game, Cryptozoic is following through on its promise of putting “players first.” Look for Class Starters to release in July at your local hobby retailer.
