This individual will be responsible for managing production of assigned company products and/or publications. The Art Director will also be responsible for selecting, contracting, and supervising outside vendors or art acquisitions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manages design, art direction, page layout, illustration and photo selection for assigned products and/or publications in accord with company editorial standards.
• Confer with clients to determine objectives, budget, background information, and presentation approaches, styles, and techniques.
• Reviews and approves proofs of printed copy and art and copy materials.
• Conceptualize and help design interfaces for multimedia games, products and devices.
• Specifies printing requirements and ensures timely completion of products.
• Screens, hires and oversees work of vendors and freelance artists, designers, photographers, typesetters, etc.
• Prepares specifications for bids, selects appropriate vendor, supervises jobs in progress, ensures vendor payment.
• Review illustrative material to determine if it conforms to standards and specifications.
• Manage own accounts and projects, working within budget and scheduling requirements.
• Analyzes and evaluates vendors and potential vendors.
• Present final layouts to clients for approval.
• Mark up, paste, and complete layouts, and write typography instructions to prepare materials for typesetting or printing.

EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

• BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in graphic design covering all aspects of artwork preparation and printing
• Minimum Field of Expertise: Art direction and production of periodicals and publications.
• World of Warcraft MMO and TCG experience a plus.
